The "Seachchaid (pronounced "Shawn a kee") was individual in the Gaelic culture that recorded and recited tales, or in simpler terms - a storyteller. I have chosen this title because it has significance to what I am doing with the music on the CD. I am using my music to tell a variety of stories about the bagpipe and the Scottish culture All Through the Ages.

John is recognized as one of the World’s top bagpipers. As a soloist, John has won many of the major piping prizes around the world.
In 1999, John achieved a feat that every piper dreams of. He became the 11th person in the history of piping and the only person from outside of Scotland to win each of the two Highland Society of London Gold Medals for solo piping at both Oban and Inverness, Scotland within the same year. That record still stands today. Some of the other major prizes John won during his solo-piping career are:
8 Pipers' and Pipe Band Society of Ontario Champion Supreme Designations, 3 North American Championship Titles, 3 Livingstone Invitational Contests, 3 Fergus Gold Medals for Light Music, The Bratach Gorm, The Piobaireachd Society of Canada Gold Medal, The Bar to the Piobaireachd Society of Canada Gold Medal, and, The Piobaireachd Society of Canada Former Winners March, Strathspey and Reel Contest. John holds the internationally recognized Institute of Piping’s Senior Teacher’s Certificate and teaches regularly all over North America. He is also an accredited evaluator for the Institute of Piping.
During his seventeen years as the Director of a National Music Program for the Canadian Forces, John trained over ten thousand students in the Cadet Pipes and Drums Training Program. John developed this program and it is still being used today.
John is a long-standing and key member of the Scottish Lion-78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band from Toronto, Ontario, winners of the 1987 Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championships. Prior to joining the The Scottish Lion 78th Frasers, he was the Pipe Major of the St. Thomas Police Grade 1 Pipe Band. John has more than 25 years experience playing at the Grade 1 pipe band level.
