The tartans represented here have been scanned from actual cloth scarves. The colors are representative as different weavers use their own eye and judgement to determine what color of light blue is "light" etc. and, for the most part, the colors shown here are somewhat subdued. If you are considering the purchase of an expensive item such as a kilt it would be best to order a swatch of the tartan in the actual weight and cloth from which your kilt will be made to get the best idea of what the final product will look like.
