Highland Weaponry... The Dirk

Dirks
Differing from European daggers in having but a single edge, the heavier blade made possible the dirk’s use as a short sword as well as a dagger. The oldest dirks had carved knotwork pommels, plain scabbards, and simple ornamentation. Starting in the 18th century, variants often had embellished scabbards to accomodate a knife and fork in the pattern of the Highland Regimental Officers. All the dirks have the finest of quality hand-wrought tempered steel blades, are equipped with a strap for hanging the dirk from the belt, and have solid cowhide sheaths. All the dirks shown are supplied boxed with historical notes and are approximatley 18” long.
